"Recently, Gordon Central Healthcare Occupations Students of America club members Kelsey Burgess, Dylan Ramsey, and Madelyn Wilson visited Ms. Rebecca Tatum's 6th grade class at Ashworth Middle School to present a presentation over stress management in preparation for their state HOSA competition to be held March 8th -11th in Atlanta. As part of their Health Education event Kelsey, Dylan, and Madelyn had to select a health related concept or instructional objective, prepare a lesson, provide instruction, and evaluate results. They had to provide the instruction to a targeted group of learners. The American Psychological Association reports that young adults are the most stressed of any generation.  Middle school is the toughest time in a child's life. It's a time when kids are trying to find their true identity, and fit in as well as navigate today's complex technologically advanced world with social networking, cell phones, and text messaging. It is for these reasons, Kelsey, Dylan, and Madelyn chose their topic about stress management. During their lesson, they presented an ice breaker questionnaire about different stress levels, media clip, power point presentation, stress ball activity, and stress management post-test. Kelsey, Dylan, and Madelyn will compile their data from their teaching demonstration and present their findings to a panel of judges at the state HOSA conference in Atlanta in March.
