  – Matthew Bryson was recently named the Gordon County winner of the 23rd Annual Georgia Farm Bureau Federation Art Contest. A sophomore at Gordon Central High School, Bryson received a certificate and a $100 cash prize for being the top winner in the county.

Matthew also won $100 for being the district winner, and 150 for being the state runner up. His artwork will be featured in the Farm Bureau calendar to go out later this year.

“Georgia Farm Bureau’s art contest is intended to encourage students creatively to explore Georgia agriculture, the number one industry in the state,” Gordon County Farm Bureau President Henry West said. The Georgia Farm Bureau Women’s Committee coordinated the statewide contest.

Founded in 1937, Georgia Farm Bureau is the largest general farm organization in the state. Its volunteer members actively participate in local, district and state activities that promote agriculture awareness to their non-farming neighbors. GFB also has 20 commodity advisory committees that give the organization input on issues pertinent to the major commodities grown in Georgia.
