"Normally, the Gordon Central Warrior basketball teams would be decked out in royal blue but that was not the case on January 27th as the team was dressed in all things PINK as they played against the Coosa Eagles. This annual pink-out event was hosted by Gordon Central HOSA students to raise awareness and proceeds for breast cancer research. There was a pre-game reception and special halftime ceremony to honor the survivors and loved ones of those affected by breast cancer. Pink-out shirts as well as baked goods were sold in an effort to support the fight for the cure. Through the efforts of those involved with this campaign, a check in the amount of $747 was presented to Erin Proctor of the Susan G. Komen foundation. More than 200,000 women and men in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. The Susan G. Komen foundation has made it their mission to educate people about breast cancer where they live, work, play, and pray to empower them with information they need to make informed breast care decisions for themselves and as they advocate for others. Gordon central HOSA would like to thank Calhoun Kroger, Lily of the Valley Creations, GC Athletics, Coosa Basketball teams, and  all  volunteers for their outpouring support of  this wonderful event.
