2016 starts my 31st year of music education, and my 18th year at Gordon Central High School. Over the years I have had the opportunity to perform with the North West Georgia Winds, the Rick White Community Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Players of the South, and other community ensembles.  I have also serves as an adjudicator at marching competitions.

A great music educator shared with me long ago.  "Always remember that you don't teach music... you teach children."  As a music educator, a band director has the opportunity to work with students for multiple years, allowing for a student-mentor relationship to develop.  It is enjoyable to watch a student grow musically and emotionally by being part of the band program.  Many students of mine have continued their music education on a collegiate level becoming band directors across the Georgia, and Alabama, many students have continued their music activities by marching in some of the best college bands across the nation.  Other students have become performing members of community bands and orchestras.  My desire is that all band students graduate from high school with a love of music, and an appreciation of hard work as an individual and as a team.

I am blessed not only to love my job, and teaching at Gordon Central High School, but to have a wonderful family.  My wife Marianne, my son Bryan and wife MaryBeth, Matt and his wife Brooke keep my life in balance. I am also an ordained Minister of Music currently serving at Adairsville Baptist Church.
